Jewish mystical tradition says that "G-d looked into the Torah and created the world." The Five Books of Moses are G-d's "blueprint" for creation.

Nachmanides, in the introduction to his commentary on Genesis, says :

'' Everything  is  written  in the Torah,  esplicitly  or implicitly,
hinted  in  words,  in  numerical  values, in the  shape  of  the
letters ( whether  written  in  regular  or  altered  from ) , or  in
the  tips  and  crownlets  of  the  letters. ''

Chanukah CodeAncient Jewish sources teach us how to "read" these blueprints. Suppose we eliminate all spaces in the Torah, and consider the text as one long sequence of 304,805 letters. A computer then finds hidden words, encoded at equal skips of letters. Statisticians call this phenomenon an ELS - short for "equidistant letter sequence."

The Torah Codes definitely exist. They foretell names and places of events throughout human history: Holocaust, Sadat, AIDS. Torah Codes cannot tell us information we don't already know. But what they do tell us is that the author of the Torah knew minute details of world history, to our very age.

A 3,000 years old tradition states that God dictated the Torah, (i.e. The Law, the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Old Testament), to Moses, in a precise letter by letter sequence, and that historic events, past, present and future, are encoded in the Hebrew Scriptures by an encryption system which can be described and unlocked.

The Gospels may refer to this when they state in Matthew 5:18 “I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished”.

During the Middle Ages a famous rabbi, Moses Cordevaro, wrote “The secrets of the Torah are revealed..in the skipping of letters”. In the 18th century the greatest Jewish thinker of his time, Rabbi ElijahSolomon, known as the Vilna Gaon, said “All that was, is, and will be unto the end of time is included in the Torah, the first five books of the Bible”.

However the thorough statistical analysis of huge quantities of text could only happen with the development of the computer.

In 1994 the old tradition received a sound scientific basis when three Israeli mathematicians, (Professor Elyahu Rips, from the Hebrew University, Doron Witztum and Yoav Rosenberg), used statistical methods and computers to research the Book of Genesis, searching by “equidistant skip interval” for the encrypted names of 32 sages who lived between the 9th and 18th centuries, checking every nth letter, where n can take any value. They published their study, Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis, in the scholarly journal Statistical Science, (Statistical Science 9:429-438), about what they called ELS (Equidistant Letter Sequences) in Genesis. The program found most of the names, with the odds against this occurring by chance calculated at 62,500 to 1. Their summary said: “When the Book of Genesis is written as two-dimensional arrays, equidistant letter sequences spelling words with related meanings often appear in close proximity, with analysis showing that the (statistical) effect is significant at the level of 0.00002”, (i.e. the odds are 62,500 to 1). This study gave mathematical and statistical evidence that information about personalities, events and dates can be found encoded in the Hebrew Scriptures.

The researchers, for comparison purposes, did similar analysis in several texts: in a Hebrew translation of War and Peace, in a scrambled Book of Genesis, and in other texts. In none of them the results were different from what would occur simply by chance.

Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis

Doron Witztum, Eliyahu Rips and Yoav Rosenberg
searched the Book of Genesis looking for pairs of
words spelled by picking out every dth letter, where d is
some integer. The pairs of words were names of
personalities and dates of their birth or death taken from
the Encyclopedia of Great Men in Israel. When the
authors used a randomization test to see how rarely the
patterns they found might arise by chance alone they
obtained a very highly significant result, with p =
0.000016. Our referees were baffled: their prior beliefs
made them think the Book of Genesis could not possibly
contain meaningful references to modern-day individuals,
yet when the authors carried out additional analyses and
checks the effect persisted. The paper is thus offered to
Statistical Science readers as a challenging puzzle.

The following are some of the verses  which are the basisfor  believing  the   existence of the Bible codes: a) The Bible states     that God dictated the words to Moses
And the  LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after
the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and withIsrael  (Exodus34:27)

b) The Bible states that Moses wrote the books of the   Law,
And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law  in a book, untilthey were finished
  (Deuteronomy 31:24).

c) The Bible states that the words will be    sealed but eventually knowledge shall be increased,

"At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will
arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the
beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people--everyone whose
name is foundwritten in the book--will be delivered.Daniel 12:1

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
 (Daniel12:4),

*** KJV (Psalms 139:14-16) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully
made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. {15} My
substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously
wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. {16} Thine eyes did see my substance, yet
being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in
continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.   (Emphasis"All the days ordained for me were written in your book before  one of them came to be"

 d) The Bible states that everything, past, present, future, is encrypted in the letters of the books of the Law,
For verily I say unto you,Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one
tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (Matthew5:18). .

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne,
and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life.
The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.Revelation 20:12
